☀️ Carrick Davins Summer Camp 2025 ☀️
We wrapped up our Summer Camp after a fantastic few days in Páirc Daiṁín. From our youngest players to our older age groups, the effort, skills and smiles made it one to remember.
A huge thank you to Mikey Ryan and Kenny Hassett from DKAM Sports for running the camp and keeping the energy high from start to finish.
Special mentions to Antoinette (Anto) McGrath and Ann for their incredible work in planning, organising and being there every day to make sure everything went smoothly.
Thank you to all our coaches and helpers for giving their time and energy, and to the parents for their support all week.
The future of the club is bright.
🏑 U11s at the Theo English Hurling Festival 🏑
Our U11s travelled to Killenaule to take part in the Theo English Hurling Festival. It was a fantastic morning where the kids played three very competitive games against Clonmel Óg, Killenaule and Ballybacon Grange.
It is great to see the kids’ skills, teamwork and competitiveness coming along so much from the training they have been putting in. Thank you to the mentors, coaches and parents for their continued efforts.
🏑 U15s Home Win vs Newcastle 🏑
Our U15s put in another solid performance at home against Newcastle. This talented bunch have really bonded as a team and it is great to hear teammates roaring on each other’s efforts.
This group is showing great potential and there is more to come. Well done to the players and mentors, and thank you to all the supporters.
🏑 Intermediate Hurlers County Championship Opener 🏑
Our Intermediate Hurlers opened their County Championship campaign in the best possible fashion against a strong, physical and sharp Newport side. Newport started sharper on the breaks and were quick to take scores from range.
Our lads had to dig deep to stay in touch, but Newport pulled away before half time, going in six points ahead. There was no panic at the break but rather a sense of belief and determination. The team came out for the second half with renewed energy, bringing the game back level within six minutes.
The introduction of Patrick Harris and Willie O’Dwyer was key to the energy that was needed to get us over the line. Goals from Billy Roche (1) and Patrick Harris (2) proved that goals win games. More importantly, it was the determination and heart shown by the panel that made the difference.
An excellent performance to start the campaign. Final score: Davins 3-20 Newport 1-23.
⭐ Special Mention: Kevin Butler ⭐
Kevin has worked extremely hard this year and made himself a key figure in this team. He settled in at half back and his attitude and determination on Sunday evening epitomises the spirit of this team.
In the dying moments, Newport won a free around 60 yards out, leaving them no option but to drop the ball in to try for goal and force an equaliser. Kevin put the body on the line, attacking the high ball in a melee of Newport hurlers. He did enough to ensure Newport did not win possession.
Unfortunately, Kevin took an unmerciful blow to the head, resulting in him being taken to hospital. He suffered a major head injury that may have ended his year and is now recovering well. Kevin’s bravery under that ball shows exactly what type of Davin man he is. We wish him well in his recovery and hope to see him back in a red jersey soon.
