U15s Progress to the County Semi Final
Our U15 hurlers faced a very strong Rosegreen side at home on Thursday evening. A reshuffle was necessary following the losses of Destiny Ukaegbu and Cian Heartery. Alex Stuart lined out at centre back, Billy Murphy moved to full forward, and young Norald Ayazin stepped into full back, filling big boots and relishing the opportunity
Rosegreen dominated the opening ten minutes, showing real strength through the middle. Management responded by moving Billy Murphy out from the middle to operate between the 50 and 65. This allowed Jamie O’Shea to offer support off the shoulder in the half back line and gave Riley Rockett a strong off the shoulder role at half forward. This levelled the playing field, and the Davins began to close the gap from six points to one by half time
Early in the second half, Rosegreen pushed the lead back to six with long range points. Management made a bold move by switching Alex Stuart to full forward. He made an instant impact, combining with a sharp Tom Tobin on the full forward line. High balls into the square brought rewards as Alex Stuart scored 2 4 in ten minutes to bring the game level with one minute remaining
The Davins then won a free between the 50 and 65, which Billy Murphy calmly converted to swing the lead. The game ended in a thrilling one point victory, with the Davins now progressing to the County Semi Final
Intermediate Championship Season Ends
Our Intermediate team travelled to New Inn to face Arravale Rovers in the preliminary County Quarter Final. Arravale made a strong start, scoring three quick points. The Davins responded, reducing a six point deficit to one. A goal from a questionable handpass pushed Arravale ahead again, and they led by eight at half time
The second half saw a similar pattern. Patrick Harris scored a goal straight after the restart to give the Davins hope, but matching Arravale’s pace proved difficult. While the season ended in disappointment, a huge thank you goes to the management and players for their commitment and effort throughout the year. Na Daimhín Abú
