“They are the lifeblood of Carrick Davins”

This was the heading of an article the club has been featured in this Sunday in “The Sunday Times” Newspaper.

We’re thrilled to be recognised by a National Newspaper. Thanks columnist and Sunday Times sports reporter, Michael Foley, who featured an article in today’s paper on our clubs close and flourishing relationship with Bridgewater House Direct Provision Centre.

As a club we’re extremely proud of the fact that we do our bit to promote a culture of inclusion and integration in our community. We welcome these kids and their families from Direct Provision into our club each year and make it our business to help them integrate successfully into the local community. These families have been through a lot and we see this a little part we can play, to make them feel like they are very welcome in Carrick Davins GAA Club and the Carrick on Suir. We currently have kids playing with us from countries such as South Africa, Bangladesh and Iraq.

A special mention also and a massive thanks to Community Liaison Officer for Bridgewater House, Martina Walsh, who plays and integral role in helping these families into the Carrick on Suir community. We’re just happy we can play a small part in this and help these kids and their families become accustomed to our club and the local community.

It really does have massive benefits for us as a club but also the community as a whole.

Stay tuned to our social media pages over the coming days as we’ve some further news we’ll be sharing around this piece.
